This breakthrough paper achieves what researchers would have previously considered impossible i.e. the quantitative retrieval of the sample-induced phase shifts from images obtained with totally incoherent x-ray sources. This instantly means that orders of magniture more labs worldwide can use this very powerful analysis method (hence the very high IF journal). I coordinated the research, invented the method and came up with the idea of using two differently illuminated images to achieve this.
