Additional information

This is the primary reference that establishes the performance of a recently introduced novel SPECT system, D-SPECT (Spectrum Dynamics). The experimental performance assessment is comprehensive and rigorous and, importantly, overcomes limitations in the use of accepted NEMA standard measurements. The results challenge previously claimed performance parameters, which were obtained while ignoring the influence of iterative reconstruction that incorporates resolution modelling. The paper includes description of novel methodology that overcomes this limitation and therefore forms the basis for future standards development suitable for more general application. The paper demonstrates significant performance improvements compared to conventional SPECT that impact on clinical application.
