<26>This paper was published in a Special issue of The Visual Computer (the 35 best papers out of over 200 submissions in CGI 2012 were selected). VerticalNews.com (US-based company), which distributes news over 50 countries, reported our method as a new finding in computer graphics (5/7/2012). Our work has influenced skeleton extraction research as evidenced by its citation in [Yu et al, "An improved contraction-based method for mesh skeleton extraction," Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2013] and was extended by [Buchanan et al., "Automatic single-view character model reconstruction," Proc. SBIM '13, 5-14.] to support model reconstruction.
