Additional information

The first quantification of lymphatic valve opening/closing behaviour under varying transmural pressures. Cited by groups in UK, Canada, USA and Switzerland in engineering, physiology and clinical journals. Collaboration with physiology groups at Texas A&M and Missouri. Funding: $2.7m NIH grant (R01 HL094269). Inspired adaptation of our previous modelling techniques to account for complex valve behaviour (described in two additional papers). In Physiology Reviews, Wiig and Swartz (Macarthur “Genius Grant” Awardee) said of it, “valves elegantly visualised in rat mesentery in a recent paper”. Resulted in three additional publications, five invited talks (including Columbia and Oxford Universities) and two IP disclosures.
