Additional information

This research results from a collaborative EngD project funded by EPSRC and Qinetiq, UK and an author is also from the Qinetiq. Here the raw vibration data from the gearbox is further processed to remove the noise and then another new Condition Indicator is developed based on the Amplitude of Probability Density Function of the processed data. This new CI is observed to be much more robust and monotonically increasing with the propagation of the gear fault compared to the existing CIs. This research will further enhance the confidence and strength in the ‘GO or NO GO’ diagnosis process.
