Exploring the scope for complementary sub-global policy to mitigate CO2 from shipping
The debate on sub-global CO2 policies for shipping focuses on emission apportionment. This study outlines the case for nations, regions and organisations to directly influence shipping at sub-global levels, in addition to actions by the International Maritime Organization. The outputs are very policy and industry relevant, as the Government is currently deciding how to include national shipping and aviation in the climate change targets. It has been presented to Internationally and was referenced in the Committee on Climate Change’s "Shipping review". Recognition of our efforts has led to a new consortia project being funded by EPSRC (Shipping in changing climates).
