A reconfigurable wideband and multiband antenna using dual-patch elements for compact wireless devices
Future wireless communication systems will require antennas operating with various unique capabilities. Operating over narrow and wideband are required in some cases where higher data rates are required especially in cognitive communication system setups. This paper looked into the design of a switchable multiband antenna concentrating specifically the operating bandwidth. This design for the first time enabled switching between a dual multiband mode and a single wideband mode using PIN diodes. Furthermore, the independent design features developed earlier by the authors were also incorporated in this design.
