This output consists of the following elements: the Introduction, Treherne’s own chapter and his research contribution to the volume. This volume was generated by a collaboration between Treherne and Victor Montemaggi which aimed to bring together for the first time theologians and Dante scholars to explore the theological dimensions and implications of Dante’s Commedia. The project was conceived to gather analyses which would draw on both literary and theological modes of investigation. The research context for studies on Dante’s theology, and the rationale for taking this new, interdisciplinary approach are set out in the Introduction.
