Additional information

The field of machine olfaction lacks tools for design and validation of sensor arrays. A virtual sensor array was created allowing tests on several aspects of machine olfaction: prototyping of signal processing, algorithm benchmarking, prototyping and research on neuromorphic and neuroinspired processing. Long term data from conducting polymer sensor arrays allowed development of an open source software framework for large-scale synthetic experiments in machine olfaction, featuring sensor arrays with arbitrary numbers of elements, concentration profiles of arbitrary mixtures of three analytes and parametric control of the level of noise in data. Chemical sensing researchers now use this tool via http://chemosensors.r-forge.r-project.org/
