Additional information

This paper is written jointly with an industry colleague and describes a fundamental investigation into the behaviour of high-power Tonpilz transducers. This publication has enhanced the University profile within the sonar/high power ultrasound communities and resulted in services rendered contracts with SAAB Underwater Systems (Feb 2011 - May 2011 [bo.lovgren@saabgroup.com] and FMC Technologies (Aug 2012 - Dec 2013) [Alan.Graham@fmcti.com]. Moreover, this work was instrumental in Posco (South Korea) selecting Strathclyde for a joint research programme (2012-13) on high temperature ultrasonic horn design [Goo Wha Kim, goohk@posco.com].
