Additional information

This paper describes research, funded by the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, evaluating the effectiveness of policies to reducing transport generated carbon emissions in London to meet long term carbon targets. This was part of a larger project examining carbon reductions in London more generally. Findings suggest the need for radical changes in transport to achieve targets. The most promising policy was a greatly enhanced reliance on walking and cycling in place of motorised transport. The work led to further EPSRC funded projects which explored the implications of this policy and how it might be achieved.
