Double-weighted statement

This book is the result of eight years of work. It includes editions of 125 musical pieces, all of which have been newly transcribed from their manuscript sources (dispersed across 18 libraries in four different countries). Gathering so many previously unknown pieces together has necessitated the development of a specific transcription method, so that they may be presented in modern notation in the edition. The edition also includes translations of all the song-texts (originally in Latin, medieval French and Middle English), and an introduction and commentary totalling some 70,000 words.
