Double-weighted statement

This monograph involved four years of research, including extensive archival work in Britain and India, and a year of intensive ethnographic fieldwork in a militarised region of India where access was difficult. It utilised a variety of methods and is interdisciplinary, bringing together religious studies, anthropology and South/Southeast Asian history. This complex study was especially challenging because it is the first investigation of the particular local religio-cultural movement, and integrates primary data with critical and methodological argument.
