Double-weighted statement

Of the five criteria that justify the double-weighting, three are met by this 2009 book (216pp). The product of five years research, 2003-2008, the book is the first in the English Language on Michael Haneke and therefore involved substantial research in service of generating an extensive and thorough-going account of his work. Over several years, the author spent long periods in the Austrian Film Archives with primary sources, viewing (at the time) unreleased films and reading Haneke’s own vast body of production notes.
