Additional information

This is the first work to identify a causation mechanism for back pain in rowers. It builds on a ten year collaboration with GB Rowing, which has established a research platform of 19 peer reviewed papers and eight National and five International invited talks. The work arose out of an EPSRC PhD CASE award with GB Rowing as part of their preparation for their most successful Olympic Games in 2012, where they won 9 medals. This work resulted in two further EPSRC CASE awards, focusing on optimising athlete performance and prevention of injury through correct biomechanical set up.
