Additional information
This work highlighted many advantages of LED light sources over conventional xenon lamps for endoscopy. The concepts led to two grants with Elson as PI (NIHR II-3A-1109-10038 £66k and II-LS-0511-21004 £422k) to investigate the commercialisation of LED light sources with an SME collaborator (Cymtec Ltd.) and a major medical equipment manufacturer (Karl STORZ GmbH). The latest generation of this technology is currently undergoing CE marking for human clinical trials.
