Integrin-dependent force transmission to the extracellular matrix by alpha-actinin triggers adhesion maturation
Focal adhesion complexes regulate critical physiological and pathological processes at the cellular level. This article showed the dynamic interplay between two mechanotransducers in these complexes, talin and α-actinin. It led to invited seminars in several universities to present the work (e.g University of Sheffield; University of Leeds), and to a joint project with Dr. Julien Gautrot (QMUL) investigating the role of these two molecules in hierarchical sensing of substrate nano-topography. After a preliminary submission, a full joint grant application has been invited by the Leverhulme Trust.
