Double-weighted statement

This is a 450 pages research monograph based on many years of research in dozens of British but also American, German and Swiss/international archives. It makes a significant contribution to our understanding of the decline of Free Trade and, more generally, to the transformation of political culture in early twentieth-century Britain, with original emphasis on the role of consumers as citizens. It was joint winner of the Royal Historical Society's Whitfield Prize in 2009 for the best work on a subject of British or Irish history.
