Additional information

This work is a result of a highly interdisciplinary collaboration between two British universities and the researchers from Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow(V.K.Popov: popov@laser.ru). The paper demonstrates for the first time the use of supercritical carbon dioxide as transport medium for diffusion embedding of readily made semiconductor quantum dots into polymer host. It represents a novel, green and efficient route to synthesizing the high quality photoluminescent nanocomposite functional materials, which demonstrates clear advantages over the conventional in situ synthetic approaches and may find important applications in industrial production of sensors, photovoltaic devices and telecommunication systems.
