Additional information

The development of miniature magnetic markers is important for a large range of applications. A novel system of Fe- and Co-rich microwires with magnetostatic coupling is shown to have multistage magnetization behaviour. Strong non-linearity of the transfer magnetic function results in highly specific spectral characteristics, which can be used to discriminate between the types of wires in the array. Since this has potential for the development of novel low-cost identification systems, this has attracted the attention of wire-producing companies (TAMAG Ltd and MFTI R&D ).
