An advanced EMMS scheme for the prediction of drag coefficient under a 1.2MWth CFBC isothermal flow—Part II: Numerical implementation
The new Energy Minimization Multiscale (EMMS) drag model developed in this paper contributes to the design optimization of CFBs power plants, as it thoroughly addresses the pressure profiles and complicated flow characteristics, yet difficult to be measured experimentally (e.g. CO2) along carbonator’s/calciner’s riser height in the Calcium-Looping process for CO2 capture. This model reveals that most of the CO2 is absorbed at the bottom region of the CFB riser, while is can be applied for the design of new built dual fluidized beds, designed by Andritz.
