Double-weighted statement

This monograph, the outcome of the author's lifetime involvement with the guitar, presents the first academic treatement of guitars' social and cultural reach in the contemporary setting. In its interdisciplinary approach it presents a new paradigm for the study of musical instruments. Wide theoretical and analytical discussion casts new light on the relationship of academic fields: organology, ethnomusicology and popular music studies. The book connects several other areas of study making a case for an ethnomusicology-based consideration of guitar matters through history and across cultures, with guitars instruments of science and technology as much as ergonomic design and musical aesthetics.
