Book 2 of Josephus' Judaean War comprises 22,520 Greek words. In addition to researching the diverse phenomena that appear in this narrative — e.g., Augustus’ Roman palace, equestrian provincial governors, Essenes, auxiliary weaponry, glass production — this output provided a new translation of the Greek text, dealt with manuscript problems, and offered suggestions for interpreting the narrative in the context of Josephus' oeuvre. Since this project required the time and effort of dozens of research articles, it is requested that it be double-weighted.
