Double-weighted statement

The culmination of 35 years work, this edition rests upon a systematic research into 13th century inquisition records and their 17th century copies. This establishes the relationship between the two for first time. The massive research into inquisitors and interrogated brings into the light a w hole period of the inquisition that had been a black hole (the later 13th century): and they present countless discoveries about it. Finally, the methods, technical precision and thoroughness of the edition, the introductory studies and apparatus far outstrip anything that has ever been done in the editing of inquisition records.
