Additional information

Single layer graphene is only visible under certain conditions on SiO2/Si substrates. The optimisation of the visibility of single layer graphene on poly-Si films enables the construction of many electronic and mechanical devices previously deemed problematic, due to the nature of the atomic-scale thin film. The research forms the foundation for the future progress of devices and systems based on graphene, by engineering the increase of contrast between single layer graphene and silicon. The enabling technology provides ease of fabrication and increases the reliability of graphene device manufacture.
