Additional information

This paper presents a method for operating power electronic systems to reduce the harmonic content in a power grid; which can lead to rapid ageing of insulation, increased arcing times, and a reduction in the performance of safety critical devices such as protection relays. This research has led to three industrially research funded projects (£500k) to monitor transformers and tap changes on site with two distribution network operators (ENWL* and Western Power).
