First demonstration and performance of an injection locked CW magnetron to phase control a superconducting cavity.
This work was a collaboration between Jlab and Lancaster University to develop cheap alternative high power sources for accelerators. This practical demonstration of the concept is a major step towards the realisation of that goal. The work was initially part of an industrial project funded by e2v into magnetron twinning and phase locking. This paper was voted the 5th in the most outstanding papers published in PRST-AB in 2011 by the editors of the journal. The article has been highly cited as it was the first experimental paper published on phase-locked magnetrons for accelerators.
