Socrates and the Jews: Hellenism and Hebraism from Moses Mendelssohn to Sigmund Freud
A double-weighting is requested for this monograph on the basis of two of the relevant criteria: 'the generation of a particularly extensive or complex concept or thesis' and ‘the use of primary sources which were especially extensive, complex or difficult to access’. The highly interdisciplinary nature of this book required a familiarity with primary and secondary sources in the fields of Classics, intellectual history, philosophy, German Studies and Jewish studies. It also involved developing a difficult argument across an unusually extensive temporal span. The scope and complexity of this substantial monograph call for a double weighting.
