Additional information

The paper addresses one of the major challenges preventing the transition of structural health monitoring from a research field into industrial practice with a novel application of a key advance in econometrics. It is the first application of cointegration in the field and later work has shown that the method outperforms previous approaches. The work, funded by EPSRC (EP/F035403/1) has led to invitations to give guest lectures at Los Alamos National Laboratory (contact: Engineering Institute Leader) and the National Physics Laboratory (contact details available) and the technique is now being used at UCSD (mdt@ucsd.edu) and AGH University of Krakow (staszews@agh.edu.pl).
