Additional information

This is the first significant contribution to bridging the gap between the fluid mechanics problem of fractal multiscale turbulence and the dynamics of self-similar quasicontinuous linear chains. It is a unique collaboration between the theoretical physics group (Modélisation, Propagation et Imagerie Acoustique), Paris 6 (Maugin and Michelitsch) and the Sheffield Fluid Mechanics Group. This first time research creates a mathematical formula that potentially provides an analytical description of the turbulent field, which significantly reduces time spent predicting complex flows, as well as contributing towards the ongoing goals of the ERCOFTAC networks SIG42 and SIG14 (http://www.ercoftac.org/special_interest_groups).
