Additional information

This breakthrough paper presents a fundamentally different type of miniature slow light delay line based on a super-low-loss optical fiber with nanoscale radius variation. This device exhibits the record long delay of telecommunication pulses with the record small transmission loss, dispersion, and effective speed of light. It is expected that this demonstration will renew the interest in slow light devices for applications in optical computing and miniature optical processors from the companies like IBM, Intel and Samsung as well as defense and other federal agencies.
