Additional information

The research identified plausible mechanisms for the experimentally observed high rate of decoherence of quantum bits built from superconducting quantum dots. An implementation of quantum logical gates using solid state nanodevices looks rather desirable due to their potential scalability. This determines the demand for a better understanding of the microscopic mechanisms causing decoherence of quantum bits based on solid state nano-devices. Our research indicated how to achieve coherence much needed for the future quantum computing. The paper has attracted interest and the authors have been invited to give more than 20 talks.
