Additional information

Optical computing is limited by low gate count and a lack of static memory. This paper shows how a useful Internet function can be performed within these limitations. Modelling of an all-optical circuit is used to examine the performance of such a complex function which can be used in optical routers. The paper shows that such important functions can be achieved with a small gate count and that this count can be reduced through careful design. In recognition of the international lead this work holds, I was invited to speak at EDIS2011 in Osaka, Japan.
