An Accessible Electrical Impedance Tomograph for 3D Imaging
The paper describes the design and implementation of an electrical tomograph. The instrument employs digital signal processing techniques to determine the measurements and offers total flexibility in selecting measurement electrodes. This enables exploration of 3D tomographic imaging and has led to collaborative research into the study of the root zone of plants with Syngenta (contact details available), reduced electrode arrays with National Nuclear Laboratories (contact details available) and product stability with Unilever (contact details available). In addition instruments have been provided for BNFL, Oxford University, University of Cape Town. The work was influential in securing employment with BP for the research student.
