Additional information

Flashover on ice-covered insulators may cause socioeconomic losses due to provoking blackout in power systems. The modern technique of digital high-speed image recording was used to investigate the flashover processes rigorously. The new material published here with a view of closing some major gaps in the present state of knowledge. Published in IEEE TDEI which is the most prestigious journal in the field of dielectrics. The output led the author to be selected among the IEEE Insulators Working Group for establishing IEEE standard P1820 Guide on the Selection of Transmission and Distribution Insulators with Respect to Cold Weather Conditions.
