A unified manufacturing resource model for representing CNC machining systems
A novel universal method is described to define and model kinematic structures for any CNC manufacturing workstation. The resource information models described in this paper have been adopted and accepted by ISO Technical Committee TC184/SC1-Working Group 8 as the international standard ISO 14649 Part 200 for machine tool resource representation. This research has led to an EU research programme with funding of €550k for Bath's involvement as the leading technology partner in the EU FP7-SME-2011 project STEPMAN (no. 286962) on STEP-NC standard based integrated product lifecycle management solution to increase the competitiveness of European machine tool manufacturing SMEs.
