Additional information

<01>This paradigm shifting model of locomotion, for this important biological system, was the first to extend beyond a single kinematic behaviour (crawling). By integrating neural control with biomechanics, we proposed a single mechanism to generate a wide range of behaviours, leading to a number of testable predictions (some experimentally confirmed since, e.g. doi:10.1016/j.neuron.2012.08.039). Enthusiastic reactions from the community are evidenced by six invited conference talks; invited review (Current Opinion in Neurobiology, accepted); invited book-chapter (in prep.); Scholarpedia article (in prep.); and follow-up international collaborations. The paper led to Boyle's EPSRC PhD-Prize Fellowship and Lectureship and to Cohen's EPSRC Leadership Fellowship.
