Integrating case-based reasoning with an electronic patient record system

Research extends the popular Explicit Semantic Analysis (ESA) to document representation with a dimensionality reduction algorithm to improve indexing efficiency. Here dimensions are Wikipedia concepts and novel algorithms are presented for concept sampling. A comparative study on classification accuracy with four different domains substantiated the contributions of the authors’ strategies over regular ESA and baseline strategies. This work forms part of a UKIERI-funded collaboration between RGU and IIT Madras. Wiratunga managed and supervised the exchanges and is PI on the research project. Algorithms and datasets have been made available as part of the UKIERI-CBRutils contribution to the COLIBRI project (http://gaia.fdi.ucm.es/research/colibri/jcolibri/contributions).
