Additional information

This paper was an output from DSTL-Industry (Selex-ES, Thales, BAE Systems etc) award (EMRS/DTC/1/23, £89k). It was the first published study of the automatic target recognition (ATR) capabilities of multipolar, bistatic radar systems (i.e. operating at different polarisations with separately located transmitter and receiver). A key finding of the paper was that a multipolar radar not only improves classification performance but also makes that performance more predictable.
