This work was supported by the US National Science Foundation (award # CBET-0853657) and by the US Department of Energy (award # DE-SC0001902). In this manuscript we presented computer simulation results that have the potential of changing our understanding regarding water flow on surfaces or through membranes. As stated in the title, we found that water can slip on surfaces that it wets, which contradicts conventional wisdom. Our results have provided interpretation for unexpected experimental observations, subsequently reported by others (e.g., PNAS USA 109, 2012, 7187; Nanoscale 4, 2012, 2621).
