Non-equilibrium dynamics of block copolymer micelles in solution: Recent insights and open questions
This invited highlight paper was chosen for the cover of Soft Matter, and discusses original research (in the context of other findings in the literature) on the thermodynamics and kinetics of the transformation of block copolymer micelles from spherical to cylindrical/caterpillar-like. Fundamental new insights, and gaps in our understanding are discussed, inspiring new research: the paper was top-10 most accessed when it appeared. The work has important implications for applications that use block copolymers for drag reduction, nanomaterials synthesis (micellar templating), and therapeutics. The article helped my former PhD student, Antonia Denkova, to become Lecturer at TU Delft.
