Additional information

Tomography techniques for SOFC using focused ion beams provide detailed microstructural information, allowing evaluation and comparison of electrodes, however they are perhaps most powerful when utilised in tandem with simulation tools. This paper details the integration of significant developments in tomography and modelling tools to explore microscopic phenomena occurring in SOFC electrodes in silico – amongst the first papers to effectively combine these tools, it shows the potential to combine macroscopic and microscopic characterisation methods and to validate computer simulations. Based on this and other publications in this area – I have published an invited review paper in this field.
