Nanofiber adsorbents for high productivity downstream processing.
New adsorbent materials for novel bioseparations are of immediate relevance to the challenges of biopharmaceutical manufacture. They will be critical in delivering next generation molecules (which are frequently more complex and less robust) and for reducing costs. This work describes the design and fabrication of a new cellulosic nanofibre material and its characterisation for bioseparations relative to existing adsorbent materials. The intellectual property arising from the work led to a patent which is the basis for our spin-out company, Puridify (see USD Technologies impact case study). Puridify are now translating this work into a commercial technology platform.
