Lattice Boltzmann method for relativistic hydrodynamics: Issues on conservation law of particle number and discontinuities
This paper, supported by EPSRC (EP/I012605/1), presents the development of a relativistic lattice Boltzmann (RLB) method to hydrodynamics. It was cited by an international team including Prof Sauro Succi (succi@iac.cnr.it), Prof Ilya Karlin (karlin@lav.mavt.ethz.ch) and Prof Hans Herrmann (hjherrmann@ethz.ch) as having discovered “spurious diffusive effects” in previous theories and developed “an improved version of RLB” which they term a new “MRT RLB” model. The method developed also have applications from complex fluids to astrophysics and high-energy physics. It has led to the recent formation of a “UK Consortium on Mesoscale Engineering” supported by EPSRC (EP/L00030X/1), led by the corresponding author.
