A major outcome from this work was the development of a general fluid mechanics code (ACEsim, www.acesim.co.uk), made available as open-source, for large-scale calculations using over 1000 processors. The code has also been taken up by the National University of Singapore who have built a 700 core machine to run the code and who have appointed two post-docs for further code development over 3 years. The code is being used by other UK groups, eg University of Leeds (Civil Engineering) and BP Ltd as part of commercial funding through UCLC.
