On the Conceptual Design and Performance of a Matrix Converter for Marine Electric Propulsion
This paper, published in a leading international journal, reports on experimental and theoretical investigations for the design of electrical power conversion in the next generation of electric propulsion drive systems. The work, jointly funded by an EPSRC studentship, QinetiQ and UK-MoD, contributes to on-going developments in All-Electric-Ship technologies (contact: Barry Saunders DESShipsMPS-FSE-CMEL@mod.uk). A reviewer commented ‘…original analysis and contribution to all-electric ship studies…’. The work, presented to a meeting of All-Electric Ship Group (UK/USA) sponsored by US Office of Naval Research (ONR) in December 2010, is on-going within a UCL led multi-university EPSRC project on low carbon shipping (EP/H020012/1).
