Parametric Design of a Waterjet Pump by Means of Inverse Design, CFD Calculations and Experimental Analyses
This paper arises from a collaboration with Rolls Royce Marine. The results of this work led to the development of new generation of marine waterjets at RR marine with significantly higher propulsive efficiency. Greater efficiency was achieved by improving both the hydrodynamic performance and the cavitation behaviour of the waterjet pump. The efficiency and cavitation performance of the new stage was measured at the cavitation tunnel facilities of RR Marine to confirm the computational results. The design has been commercialised by the company and is implemented in their current product lines.
