Additional information

This paper arises from the FP7 Integrated Project INSTINCT coordinated by Brunel. A feasible intersystem soft handover mechanism between Universal Mobile Telecommunications (UMTS) and Digital Video Broadcasting for Handhelds (DVB-H) systems is presented. Although DVB-H was not commercially successful core ideas in the paper apply to its successor DVB-T2 Lite where T stands for Terrestrial. Furthermore, intersystem cooperation between 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Digital Video Broadcasting - Next Generation Handheld (DVB-NGH) systems, a follow up to DVB-T2 Lite, is under consideration [1].
