This work opened up a new area of neuroscience and led to the award of a Human Frontiers Science Programme Grant entitled "Deciding and revising: A unifying framework for decision making and motor control" between Shadlen (Columbia University) and Wolpert's group (3 years, USD750k). These are highly competitive grants which fund international innovative projects. Kiani won the Donald Lindsley Prize (2010) in Behavioral Neuroscience from the Society of Neuroscience which recognises his outstanding PhD thesis. Based partly on this work Shadlen was renewed as a HHMI investigator (2010) and Wolpert was awarded a prestigious 10-year Royal Society Research Professorship (2013-23).
