Additional information

Based on the development described in this paper and papers published in SPE-Journal, Review in Geophysics and JGR, JOGMEC has been providing funds to assess the geomechanical issues of the production trials of methane gas recovery from hydrates, which exist in large quantity in deepsea and permafrost regions. These field tests (on-shore at Mallik Canada and off-shore at Nankai Trough) are the first trials in the world. The authors were invited to participate: contact Dr Yamamoto (ID_in_audit_file@jogmec.go.jp) for further details. Soga was an invited speaker of the first Gordon Research Conference on Natural Gas Hydrate Systems to introduce this work.
